Help ID'ing my RC K98

if i can recommend a different way to remove shellac. i did it this way:

1. use Citristrip (a mild stripper that can be found at Lowe's or Home Depot
2. brush Citristrip onto stock. let sit for 10+ minutes and then wipe off with clean cloth or towel
3. let air dry for a few minutes
4. use a cloth dipped in denatured alcohol and wipe down stock to remove leftover shellac and Citristrip (use rubber gloves when handling denatured alcohol)
5. wipe stock dry
6. denatured alcohol again and let it dry.
7. let stock sit for an hour or so just to make sure no cosmoline or shellac that has soaked in leaks out
8. when ready, apply the finish. i used Boiled Linseed Oil but Howard's Feed and Wax is also great. if you use BLO, you can use as many coats as you wish, but i think 2 is perfect. let dry completely in between coats

i'll give that a shot and see how it turns out. i think instead of BLO i'm gonna go with the Howard's and see how that works.

i know i just refinished this stock, but then stumbled across this one which makes my kriegsmodell more historically accurate, and it was a good deal, so i went ahead and picked it up.

looks like i'll have a back-up stock. someone slap me before i break the bank on this project, haha. :slap:

this one has the shellac gunk on it too, so i'll get some more practice on my refinishing skills.

Always good to practice on the refinishing skills. Now you have the K98k skills than you need the 1903A3 skills and than you need ........:madsmile:
