My newest addition

Frank, I am usually a pro-shooter. But the value of that particular IP lays in it being a preserved white bag. Cleaning it up from its 1966 condition (45 years) will greatly deminish its collector value as a white bag. Besides, the packing and long-term preserving is part of its history. You would be destroying that. That was a period of "duck and cover", Vietnam, fears over the Red Hoard wiping us all out. That weapon was put in mothballs as a "just in case".

It goes against my "but does it shoot?" mentality, but I think you should leave it preserved and not fire it.

Just my two cents worth (while I drool).

TR, thanks I'm leaning that way. I know it would be a great shooter. It is like a new rifle. I also agree that it's unique in that it's an I.P. and a"White Bag".....Frank

Speaking of Duck and Cover, I know you guys remember from elementary school how we would go through a drill. They would have us go to the hallway against the walls on our knees and cover the back of our heads until the all clear sounded. And I remember during the missile crisis, at our new shopping center( which were starting all over the Country), flat bed trucks brought in Bomb Shelters and set up for display. As 10 year old kids we found it fascinating to go into them and see the food storage shelves, and the air stack that would go above ground after it was buried. And another old thought, remember the saving's Bonds Books with the little minutemen stamps. You would purchase the stamps, fill the book up and have $25.00 worth of a saving's Bond. I still have one out in a box in my Garage. I just wonder if I took it to the bank to cash out, what they would say!

Hey Rusty, I grew up in the burbs outside Chicago. There were alot of people that put concrete "Bomb Shelters" underground in their backyards!! I wonder how many are still around.....Frank

Frank, Where? I grew up on the South side by Merrionette Park and Blue Island. I was born in 52. I remember "Duck and Cover" drills.

Whewwww... I ain't feeling so old now!!!! LOL... I was born in '63 - after the little contest over Cuban. I still remember the CD commercials, duck and cover and I remember have the word "hippie" defined by my Great-Grandmother (she was born in 1890!)... But at least my joints ain't creeking as loudly as ya'll - yet! LOL

Frank, don't shoot it. You have enough toys to play with at the range anyway. Once you shoot it, it will be "just one more" that has to be cleaned...

Besides, I am waiting on you to sell it to me!

Being born in 1963 how can you be a Tired Retired, you are too young? :dunno:

I'm a '49er too, and just being able to retire at the end of this year. Maybe I didn't make enough or save enough when I was younger. :bash:
