Rare Enfield Rest - Australian Arms Auction Catalogue

Ned and I are based in Bunbury Western Australia. From Bunbury to Australian Auctions Arms in Doncaster East, Melbourne Victoria, it is a 3,387km drive. This equates to 2,104 Pommy miles. (which were also Aussie miles up to 1971).

So a quick round trip with a short diversion to the Lithgow Museum in New South Wales equates to a total distance of 7,965km.

For your interest I have attached a Google map of the route.

Austrlia is a very big country.

Peter perhaps you need a new map.

Of course this is based upon having enough cash to win the auction, with enough left over to fund the necessary beers for the road trip.

Paul, I only got to th West coast once or twice, to Perth/Albany area. Wheaty, I can see the problem now and why you need some parts............. As I said, we have one but they're so heavy and such an akward shape

Peter,

we are based 170km south of Perth, on the Coast, in the port town of Bunbury. So you were just up the road during your two trips to Perth.

With the constant encroachment of residential housing on the Perth metro range, it is under pressure to close.

When this happens our local range, Coolilup, will be the closest to Perth.

I searched google to try to find a picture of the range, and the best I could find shows Ned (Dave) shooting his (now mine) 1955 Fazakerley No4 mk11. The pic is attached. Clubhouse is in the rear of the pic.

It is a great rifle. Shoots straight for Ned. Shoots massively to the right for me! ........must be the bedding, bore, action etc........:banghead:

I am not so sure about the virtues of the 7,965km road trip. Drinking the beers sounds a lot more attractive, but the pressure is on to sort out the shooting right issue before the picnic shoot.

Here's some pics of the range

One of the telescopic layers came onto eBay a few years back from a naval(?) base in Wales IRRC.

Oh, I see it was 2001! Tyme wanes swiftly awaye!:D

Listing says the maker was "G. Baker, High Holborn, London".

No sign of the rest itself as far as I recall.

What would you estimate the weight at Peter? (Of the one you have)

Phew, T Bone.............. I couldn't even hazzard a guess. But as an engineer and a supervisor, I'd just say that it was 'fxxxxxx heavy'. That's close enough!

If anyone is interested in one with two layer telescopes PM me..
I put the weight at around 350 to 400 lbs and it can be palletized.
