Well I look forward to meeting you all on Saturday! Is there going to be show-and-tell?
Son, considering distances in this old world of ours, and the fact that some of us may not be able to do those distances any longer for one reason or another, it is Mine Own Humble Opinion that a Factory Tour, photographed and written by somebody who KNOWS the rifles, would be somewhat akin to manna from Heaven for those of us who honour and respect the Lee-Enfield Rifle in all its forms.
I know that I, for one, definitely would welcome such.
Have fun, all!
Wish I could be there!
.
My fur coat there is!
Hopefully we'll have the largest assembly of HTs together in one place since they left the factory.
Everyone is welcome to bring along a toy. The only stipulation is that it has a Lithgow pedigree and it is preferably something out of the ordinary.
Better change that to "photographed together"... I know of one person who had over a dozen back when they were being sold off, AFAIK he only has three or four now, they have been funding his retirement. And I know of another who currently has 38, but isn't keen on the work involved in gathering the info for the survey.....
I've got my new one pulled down at the moment to give the stock some well needed oil. Nothing else, just a dust off with a soft cloth and a liberal coat of blo, came up pretty good.
How about "the largest assembly of HTs owned by miltiple owners"?
Getting excited. The 71 Holden ute is serviced and ready to go. I just have to work out a lockable box in the back and I'm right...
Cheers,
Matt
