1914 SMLE Lithgow

Guys,

The bolt is matching..the cocking piece is has been changed ONLY.. Its matching, all matching barrel, receiver, bolt, etc,..The cocking piece was probably changed whilst in service with the brits.

JB, I just mentioned it had the wrong bolt....ok, to be more precise a more modern cocking piece than it should have. I don't think you'd previously mentioned or taken any photos of matching serials. I also recall that euroarms store all the bolts separately. In anycase I'm glad for you (and the rifle) that it has it's original bolt. I'm sure you will get an excellent price for it.....having said that, if I was to have come across it in the manner you mention, there would be zero chance of me ever parting with it, somethings money can't buy.

Q1. Should the 1914 not have a volley sight.
Q2. The later model fore end it is fitted with has Aussie brass rod fitted. This is more like a later than ww1 FTR even with the cutoff.

Yes you are 100% correct, i was just lucky to get these three rifles with the correct bolts, i think i will keep it and maybe sell the 1918 and 1919. sorry to be a little gruff, but i have had a few knuckle heads annoying me. Thanks for the feedback.

I wish it had its original wood, but alas the brits refurbed it sometime during or after the wars, fortunately it has its original cut - off and windage, (star marked) I will post more photos of it when it gets to sydney and give it a good clean.

What do Euroarms charge for their rifles?

1914 with correct bolt but later wood. A couple of grand.

Hi Matt,

Mate Euroarms won't sell you the rifle, you have to go through a dealer like forbes wholesale down in VIC, each rifle was close to a $1000 delivered and it took roughly 5 months wait.
