Probably more then it is worth…..I never thought about that saying before, but how can it sell for more than its’ worth if someone paid that for it.Quote:

I have a value in my head before I sell something. That being my opinion of what I feel my item is worth. When a sale goes past the figure I have set in my mind, to me, that is "more then it is worth".
Whatever it sells for MUST be the true value, or it wouldn't have sold. I don't believe that for a second. There could come a time when it will be like the housing crisis. A crash in the collecting market and people will be underwater. Having paid more then what they can sell it for. But is that the reason we buy them. I think not. History, Memories, Nostalgia, Family Herloom to hand down, to me are the reasons. If they go up in value, that is just a bonus.
I think worth is a moving target, its’ subjective and abstract. That’s all I was saying.
For me any way…..If I were to put a gun up for auction on Gun Broker the starting bid or reserve if it had one would be the least I would be willing to sell it for. Naturally, I would hope that someone would be willing to pay more than the starting bid. By my way of thinking the worth is what the buyer is willing.
I have no plans of trying to do the bidder out of it .If it sales low it sales low, I was curious if I started with a to low of a price. After this canser scare I got to thinking that I did not want to leave my wife with a bunch of stuff she could not sale at a fair price. I have a lot of 03s and garands that my local dealer would give 75% of the value and that is ok. But I have other items like a M1C, D, A4, 97 trench, lend lease garand That she would really have a hard time getting what they are worth buy selling local. As far as carbines I have 3 and I decided to keep my rockola mixmaster and my bavarian forestry police which is a early inland high high wall stock, dogleg , and original except for the safety.
rice 123, have you given thought to selling here on the forum?
Alot of good people who would be willing to pay fair prices.
My oppinion is your going to do O.K. on your M1A1 on GB. (I think you are missing one number in you serial #) Those rivits and type two band are going to draw some attention and bids.
