M94 Swedish Carbine

Tried posting pictures but had no luck. Here's a run down of the pictures I took.
1. The Bolt handle serial number is 117
2. The Magazine Floor Plate serial number is 117
3. The Butt Plate number is 117
4. The Barrel band number is 117
5. The Hood sight is 117
6. Everything is 117
7. The Left Side has the initials OG then the serial number 117, however, it looks like the Number "6" before the serial number, is a little larger (not by much).
8. The Disc is missing, there used to be one there, someone stuck an old Silver Dollar in it's place.
9. The rifle is immaculate.
Looks lime the files are too large to attach. Wish you could see this rifle.
10 The original leather attachment sling is on the right side.

Everything on the rifle is marked 117 to include the Butt Place, Barrel Band, Bolt, Magazine floor plate, Hood, everything. The left side of the gun has the initials "OG". The serial number is 6117, however, it looks like the six might be a little thicker,maybe. There is no bayonet lug and the leather strap is on the right side of the gun. There used to be a brass disc but someone took it out and replaced it with a coin. The bolt handle looks period perfect and there are no marks to indicate it as a fake (bad bluing, welding, etc.)

Thought I read somewhere that a different number was assigned to the standard serial number on the left side of the receiver for some reason or another. Still trying to find the web link that talked about it. The gun is gorgeous.

O.G. was inspector Olaf D. Gibson. Inspector from May 1. 1898 to May 31. 1902. That matches the 1898 marking, encouraging my suspicion that the engineers carbine was remarked when it was converted from the standard model.

For the pictures: edit/crop them to make JPEG files that are not larger than about 300kB per photo and try again.

and you will see that 6117 must originally have been a carbine made by Mauser, Oberndorf, in 1895.

6117 marked Garl Gustaf 1898 therefore indicates a remarking when it was rebuilt as an engineers carbine (if genuine). There are some examples of Carl Gustav remarkings of rebuilds in the list on that link.

I mentioned in a previous post, that the Engineers Carbine had the sling on the bottom. Now you mention a sling on the side. That does not match up. I also mentioned at the outset that some carbines have been faked. It is conceivable that this example has been faked from an m/96. I hope not, but we need pictures to settle the matter.

A feature that you can check: the grasping grooves on a genuine carbine stock are about as long as your hand is wide. On an m/96 rifle the grasping grooves are much longer - about the length of your hand. If the stock has been altered from an m/96, then the grooves are long (or have been partially filled) and there will be traces on the bottom where the sling swivel was removed.

The s/n mentioned is within the 1898 known carbines produced by Carl Gustaf. The pictured carbine is a m/94.

Great pick-up. I don't have a 94 in my collection and am jealous. More jealous that you may have a $600-700 gun for <$300!
