You probably have a WWI vet that may well have gone to France. The stock is pre-WWII and nice. Finding a nice, correct stock(WWI) isn't that hard. $900.00 is at the high end of the '03 range. At $600.00 I would be looking real hard. At $900.00 I'm walking away.
The stock is indeed a National Match stock.

JB, Whats a NM stock like this worth? Would a nice non sanded SA stock from 1918 with markings on it be worth way more? , Jay

Did you find any markings on the NM stock besides those you showed in the picture? Like a serial number on the bottom of the stock near the butt swivel?
Beginning in 1931 you could order the C type stock through the DCM, and beginning in 1932 you could order the service rifle with the C stock.

And another question for the experts , would this stock be correct for a 1918 SA 03'?
The second stock looks like a pre-1910 "high-wood" that has had stock screws added during rebuild.
