I didn't think of it when doing last reply. But I have a 4,4 NPM too. Mine is 4,426,5-- with a U bbl. also. In fact most of it's parts are the same as you have with yours down to the U trigger. Except mine came with some kind of a v notch rear sight, it looked home made.
It just didn't get stamped with the manufacturer info. It's not the first one that got out without it.Quote:

I think I'll go with the possibility that this is a Commercial Controls carbine. A guy can dream can't he.

It looks to me like the manufacturer name (NPM?) and serial number have been ground off and a new serial number stamped back on. I can clearly see the edge of the grind near the left edge of the receiver and I think I can see the left leg of the 'N' and maybe a shadow of the 'Postal Meter' below it. I dont think NPM stamped most of their receivers very deep. Something else, I have NPM 4.24M and the '4' font isn't even close to the the one shown, in both size and style. Anybody have one closer to compare? Plus the first '4' in the pic is really ragged - hardly discernable as a '4'. Like somebody had a hard time getting his overstrike to match part of the original number that was too close to the edge to grind off. That's the way I see it.
Your 4.24M was made at least four months after this 4.42M receiver was. The font style and size on the no name receiver is consistent with NPMs made during the same time frame.Quote:
