Yup IP alone in the sling well is a war time replacement stock made by Robert Irwin Co. and not an Irwin Pedersen stock but it is the same company that made both stocks.

Ok, now we have to see pics of the sling well to see if it is IR or IP.
(Harlan, can you get those pics of his carbine stock up and running please?)
Seriously, it is a nice looking carbine. The stock has some very good color and grain to it. What condition are the internals in?
My mistake. Brian is correct in that it should be IR as a replacement stock.
Actually, the Carbine is in transit to me. The pictures and narrative is what the seller provided.
I'll post pictures when it arrives.
The question I have is when RIA did the refurbishment, why didn't the safety get chaged to a rotary type.
You never know that they may have. There are so many carbine owners out there making so many changes. Some changes are to "make correct", some are to "up the price". Some of the changes are just personal preferences... (Some guys like the push button because it is like a Winchecter Shotgun safety).
That is why I asked about the internals of the carbine. Its like a Cracker Jack box - you never know what is going to be inside until you crack 'er open!
Here's the inside of the well

Tired Retired is right, So many different preferences. Its going to be hard to tell whats right or not one day, But I guess that`s what makes the carbine world what it is today.

IP with a flaming bomb does not show up in Riesch's book. only IP-IR
So then, if IR is a replacement stock, what is IP ???
Are there any markings on the right side of the stock? Sometimes a camera will pick up markings better then the human eye.
