I think we made 290 all with sterling mags.The barrels were got as blanks and finished to military profile The first lot were made in 1988 we still have no1 I will have a look at the date on it to make sure

I have not read your comments on the milling shape I was just giving a possible cause for the different styles what you said may be right as you say till paper work comes to light it is pure speculation .

welcome aboard , i owned a charnwood conversion , i got it from brian a number of years ago , its gone now but i can attest to quality , it was a fantastic rifle

Many thanks, Charnwood ... from a satisfied customer. With a 7.62 No. 5 barrel attached to a No. 4 action (now converted with a Mk 2 hung trigger). Finding the No. 5 in 7.62 on a No. 4 action was what I´d always wanted. It functions exceptionally well (extractor, ejector and magazine etc.) and (in better hands than mine) can beat most of the competition in my area (... and the competition in Berlin can be fierce). I express my gratitude in the hours of TLC spent on the furniture. I´d appreciate any information you might have on where the barrel came from.

Well, what seemed to be the trouble C-O................? The question of 'going broke' has been answered fully as nobody, certainly on this forum, ever implied that it did go broke.
The magazine question has been fully explained in that they weren't crap as such, but just needed to have the ejectors properly fixed. Apart from that, they operated perfectly.
The general work quality has been reported on favourably it seems, by what has been said above.

That just leaves the unanswered Enforcer questions but since I've never owned or even fired one and seen fewer, it doesn't apply.

Hello Rob - can I echo the other users who ask for more information on the enforcers? In what state did they reach you? Were they all 'in full' with woodwork etc attached? Some enforcers are listed by the police as having been destroyed, but the same numbers have shown up subsequently. Clearly I'm not saying they passed through your hands but as someone who dealt in enforcers you could shed light on what was happening at the time so far as you know? Are the police records wrong, or were the rifles still salvageable?
How did the unissued rifles (ie those which never went to police service) arrive? Were they just receivers or the full works? I write this not in any kind of accusatory way, but as an enfield (and enforcer) enthusiast who is a bit frustrated at all the suppositions and conclusions based on little evidence flying around. Here's our chance to hear it from the mouth of someone in the thick of the enforcer sales when the police were disposing of them.

Here is mine I picked up many moons ago. Closest I will get to a L8 most likely.

Questions I have are with the Stirling Mag I do not get ejection of the empty shell all the time, any hints on what I should tweek? Second, were all your conversions from Mk I's or were there Mk I* and Mk 2's also?

David Howroyd told me that the Sterling conversion had a separate ejector in the system........ Or am I mistaken? THere doesn't seem to be one on your rifle Lance........... No separate ejector somewhere with a 7.62mm cartridge and it won't eject.

David gave me a whole box of old redundant Sterling kits including barrels and magazines and if I remember, funny springy ejectors

The Sterling mags do not have an ejector tab, and were designed to be used with a separate ejector stud kit:

That's the spring ejector thinggy that I recognise. Any comments anyone on how well it worked
