Bench vice for enfields and other rifles

There is one of these on Ebay in the Parker Hale listings.

And clamping the forend like that is a poor idea, likely to ruin its grouping qualities.

With a nice new workshop with two workstands, we are working in luxury compared to the picture above. Hellfires, what a mess.

With regard to jigs, all Enfield receivers can be mounted (sans butt) on a plate through which a 7/16-in Whit bolt fits. The plate has a suitable piece of steel welded to it for mounting in a vice. Up side down, it allows for the stocking up of fore-ends which are naturally removed before fitting butt.

Any chance of a picture/photo. I don't quite get it.
