A new unfired T ?

I'd agree with what people above have said -- it most definitely isn't unfired or even anywhere near new. It has also seen Indian service as everyone has spotted. However, it isn't in bad order, it has an original bracket, transit chest & scope tin with it, & it comes with a very scarce Vickers Mk2/1 scope (hence the two digit serial number stamped into the butt). If it were priced sensibly it would be worth a punt, but not for me at 7000+ dollars!

P.S. Peter.....never say never....the next time we meet up I'll show you a near mint Indian issue BSA 44 T, complete with all the original brunofixing. The only conclusion I could come to was that it must have spent its Indian service career hanging on the wall of the officers mess!

I've got a nice condition 1944 Indian "T" too. It's original finish and not beat up. The Ishapore screw is even nicely done and they center bedded it with the muzzle floating 360 degrees. It's just like yours Rog except it's had a scope upgrade to Mk.3. It's got a Vickers scope number barred out on the wrist which is interesting.

Yes, odd that. I usually associate 'Indian issue' with 'beaten the cXXp out of' !! However, mine, & presumably yours, must have led charmed lives. The 'Ishy screw' is also neatly done on mine. The wood & metalwork is all virtually unmarked, although the Indian issue markings have been painted onto the butt. Sadly it came as just the rifle, minus scope & bracket etc. IIRC without getting it out of the gunroom, it bore a HBM scope in the 11-thousand odd range, so it could have been a late Mk1 or early Mk2. Our mutual friend Dr Bob the marine parasitologist sent it over for me via Fultons about 10 or more years ago.....

Interestingly enough he could not sell that gun under that description in my state. It would fall under the the "criminal simulation" statute.
