Is the following stock on one of my M1903s (1.020.XXX S/N (no Mark I!), NS bolt and barrel date SA 10-27) also a later Keystone?
It may be a Springfield. Any sign of a K or S in the recess for the cutoff? $75 in Euros or anything else for that stock is a heck of a good buy!!!
FWIW I looked at the C stock in Promo's link again, I was half asleep the first time when I said it looked like it had mods for a handgard ring but after looking again I see it does'nt. My mistake.
I have a C stock with a SA SPG cartouche with the drawing number D-1836 and in back of the drawing number is stamped 1497163, must have been on a NM rifle
Wow that's close to my serial number. Would you consider parting with it?
Slightly OT, but I have a USMC target rifle, which was made up of several different parts. It includes a former NM stock, with #1,402,314 stamp near the butt swivel; a fe years ago, I briefly owned M1903 #1,402,304!
Rick, you're incredible. Just checked it, there's a S in the cutoff of the stock. So it could be original to that rifle?
Promo - I believe your serial #1,020,xxx is just before Mark I production started. The C-stock, not "adopted" until '29, would be a later addition, I believe.
I know this is an old thread. But I have been trying to locate parts for my build and have questions about the rear sight collar and barrel bands.
1. Will any rear sight collar with lightening cuts work (provided it has the appropriate alignment slot, mine is 1 o'clock) or is there a more specific one?
2. What finish should the rear sight collar and the barrel bands have? Blue/Dark Park/Grey Park?? (I have found an assortment of options while searching)
The receiver appears to be a grey park and I have noticed a punch mark on it below the serial number. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
