Thanks for pointing that out. I thought the only item of interest on the sling was the type of tab used, ie horse shoe verse full. What is correct sling type for 1943, kahki colored canvas, OD, or leather or something else. Do you have a supplier to purchase one from?
It would probably be khaki colored, or 'O.D. #3' in the military designation with 'C' tips, or 'horseshoe' as you said. There were some olive drab (OD #7) slings, mostly later on. The color for slings was just as it was for all web gear in WWII - early gear was predominately OD#3, and later gear was OD#7 but it wasn't set in stone and manufactures used whatever they had available.
Fakes /reproductions are predominant with the original WWII C-tip slings that are on the market. Ebay, gunbroker, etc are full of fakes being described as authentic, and some of the fakes are getting harder to distinguish when only looking at photos even if you have a lot of experience.
I'd buy from someone you know or trust such as a forum member if you can find someone who has one to sell and expect to pay in the $75 to $100 range or a little more depending on condition and if it has a date/mfg stamp. You might try our WTB section to let people know that you're looking for one.
Hey Harlan,
That info is worth a Thank You....

I also checked the sling and it has a closed tab and what looks like MRTstamped on it with a date i cannot read stamped below that.
I was looking for more pictures. Close ups on your parts markings before saying anything about them. Rebuilds have all different era of parts. It is more likely to see a D clip on a carbine now instead of a C clip sling. If nothing else worn out from use over time and replaced with what was at the surplus store.
Here is an picture of some slings I have for you to see markings, no markings, later D clip versions.

I currently have the second from the bottom. I assume I need one of the ones on the top?
Did you do the restoration on this or did you have someone else do it?
