wow what a bunch of responses. thanks to all. Is the general thought that it is real? Im also looking for a bayo to go with my 6-42 rifle. Would the long bayo be more correct?

If you want a bayonet that would have been what was in use when your rifle was new, it would be a long one. They first started making new bayonets again in 1942 and they were long but soon afterward they decided they wanted them short. The majority of the long 1942 bayonets were cut in arsenals. Yours could have had an earlier long bayonet too to be what might have been used on it when it was new - Of course a year or so after your M1 came out, any type bayonet would be 'proper' -
I have a 1942 that hasn't been cut -

Also an early long bayonet that was arsenal overhauled for WWII

Personally, I like the bowie cut bayonets on M1's. I just like the way they look. I have two of them

I'm kinda new at this. So the bayonet in question is a cutdown 1905? Is the 1942 the date this was done? Also the UC and the UFH? Are those the makers and if so is one the original maker and the other the company that did the rework? Thanks
Harlan,
Are you wanting to part with your '42 long Bayo? If so let me know please.

Real and it's a cut down. Denix replicas are not cut down.
