Probably a better option if you are serious about shooting it than a relining job. I just depends on how much hurt your wallet can take. But it sounds VERY interesting! Not many folk have the opportunity to really wring out an 1899 at the range.

Well the re-lining is out as is any further attempt at cleaning. Apparently there are 3 very fine longitudinal cracks in the barrel. Almost invisible to the eye.
I was exceptionally lucky last Oct, with the 5 rounds I'd fired not to get a burst barrel.
Time for a new barrel.
I found a donor barrel, so its away to be rebarreled.
Amazing! Any more where that came from?
My apologies, as I didn't mean a donor barrel as in a Rem-Lee barrel, but as a friend 'donated' a 1-10" barrel blank to my project.
and no he has no more, but wants to help me shoot it, (soon) as he's in his late 80s.
