They had their swords as a sign of authority after the defeat and eventually would hand them over. Commanders first. My point was that this pattern of sword isn't seen much. Usually it was a Katana, not this one.

if it was a family sword handing it over would hve been dishonor and they then would go off a kill them selfs for it. officers carryed the set most of the time the tanto,wakizashi,and the katana the sword in the pic is a common soldiers sword
canada dose not get enough respect for what they did in ww2 mainly in japan in tv and other places its like the US was the only one fighting
