I'm just happy I found it before the King of Maze did !
Amazing how much the camera shows that you just can't see by eye.
Sorta feels like a shame to clean the historical grime off, but it needs to last another 70+ years.
I'll post pictures of the 5,2 Inland that came as a original barrel, receiver, rear sight, band, bolt, slide and frt sight, but had a complete WRA Trigger housing in it. Pretty easy fix swapping out a correct Inland housing.
I've finished that one up and it came out very nice. Can't help but think the original TH was changed during a cleaning (?)
Enjoy the Holiday,
CH
I sure would like to have an earlier Win than I have. Like the one you just got. I walked into several parts for an early version without really looking, but I don't have the receiver and barrel yet. I should be happy with what I have, I guess.
I'll be like TR and tell you you have to send it to me. Heck I'll even stop by on my way to Saginaw.
Very nice Charlie.
Nice one Charlie! I'd like to know if the hanguard is unmarked - I've got one like yours (handguard only!) but doesn't have a "w" - have read that some came that way.
Thanks! - Bob
Guys,
I'll try to open it up Monday and get some internal pics.
Grabbed some time today to get pics of the inland I just finished up.
Thats a new post.

Charlie, A super nice early Winchester. I have none better.
Notice the buckle on the sling is the round type. Very rare.
Very nice find Charlie. Keep preserving history. John
Thanks All,
I've been fondling it when I can, but it will probably be this coming weekend before I'll get a chance to take pics of the internals.
Knowing the seller I knew I'd get a nice carbine, but never dreamed it would be this nice.
His description "Well it's a pretty nice carbine" was good enough for me to buy sight unseen.
I'm wanting to take before cleaning and after cleaning pics as I go. So I can detail the CC data sheet as accurately as I can.
I appreciate the kind words and look forward to sharing this with all.
I'll try sharing as many pictures as I can...... without driving you guys nuts.
Again; If anyone has special picture requests please feel free to ask.
Thx,
Charlie
Hey Bob,
Couldn't help but pull the B/R out of the stock tonight.
Hand Guard has no markings, It does show the type of milling we see on the inside bottom channel often found on WRA HG's. But on the bottom outer rail (rightside) at the notched cut away IT IS NOT like the later WRA Hg's we see with the 2 heavy circular milling scars. I'll get a picture of this area this weekend.
HTH,
