Pinned stocks started in late 1942 with late Remington M1903s in an attempt to save time and material. The pinned stocks continued in use with the early M1903A3s until about mid-1943.

How about a close up picture of the band spring cut out in the stock. Could the stock be Smith-Corona?

Unfortunately, I've posted all the pictures that I have. This one, showing the "circle P", looks like a Remington proof, but it is difficult to be sure without being able to measure it
