Not strange at all, but kinda wonderful!

My Type V slide just has PI with no numbers. Is that earlier or later????
Look closely at the bottom of the slide - the number may be lightly-stamped - I didn't see mine at first glance. It should also have a capital letter on the bottom indicating an inspection mark (I've heard other explanations). Mine has an 'I' and I've seen many others, like 'V' for example, which definately does not indicate 'Type V' as I eventually learned. :)
IIRC it has an F on the bottom. I oiled it up pretty well inside the channel, but don't see anything but the PI.
Mine is Just stamped PI as well with no numbers
The early L-379 slides from sept 43 through April 44 do not have the part number 7160091. If your slide does not have that part number on it, it is Correct.
Thanks for the info!
INLAND44,
You sure take some really nice pictures.
Thx,

Thanks; got a little Sony Cyber-shot makes it easy as pie. It would have to be, because I'm certainly no photographer.
Rustship; thanks for the answer. I imagine my carbine originally had a flip sight, flat bolt and pre-Type V slide.
