OK so i checked and I must have been on crack or something - serial number is 6 including the letter, but the letter is a 'C' - C910XX
. how does that relate to a 1942 rifle. Nosecap has hgad a number ground off. However no sign of JJco NY anywhere on the rifle that I can see without stripping it down. there is a 'B141' stamp on the rear of the reciever behind where the bolt sits that i haven't seen before
Yep that serial number sounds right.
I've seen more 42 dated lithgows in as new condition than any other action date however the scrubbed nosecap on this one indicates its been repaired by someone at some stage.
So a C910XX serial could be correct for 1942 Lithgow. Good to know thank you. Question re the John Jovino imports (which this still probably is). As they imported TONS of parts and stuff way back when, would the individual receivers (being the firearm in the eyes of he law) all have been stamped with import marks, or would that not happen if it was a crate of 200 receivers or thereabouts.

Great pics thank you. What are the matching numbers under the bolt and on the receiver just behind where the bolt handle sits??
They are an "assembley number", if they match, you have the original bolt.
