Is there any sign of a boxed SG and Crossed Cannons stamp on the right side of your stock?

There's a crossed cannons stamp (slowly fading), but no boxed SG stamp that I can see.Quote:

Yep, a hand-stamp. You're very fortunate that it was not marked 'M2'. by that time they were making mostly M2s, but they reserved a few to hand-stamp with the '1', so they wouldn't have to change the die in the machine that stamped the receiver rings. With a 12-44 barrel, I'd guess yours at about late January, 1945. Maybe February. If you were to go to the trouble of making it period correct, late parts are still pretty easy to get. Round bolt, Type V slide, etc. I think you would want a late, 'potbelly' stock, too.
