My Safety Check just got a bit better today. While I've come to despise black Friday sales, I did venture out, just not that early, to Cabelas. They had lead sleds on sale for one of their door busters and I picked one up.
So now the string on the trigger is a definite probability as this will hold the rifle in place and can be aimed.
They had a pile of the sleds left around 11am.
Unfortunately, two bags of lead to put on it cost more than the sled so I passed on them. I have a bucket of lead in the basement I'll have to figure out a way to weigh the sled down.
The lead sled is question is Caldwell's top of the line DFF and the sale price is $99 and it can be ordered online for free shipping to the store. Shipping to your house is probably extra. The Retail on these is over $200 so it's a pretty good savings and they come highly rated. I have not yet taken mine out of the box as I've been too busy. But it would have come in handy yesterday as we shot in our deer rifles and my daughter's shoulder is hurting pretty bad after shooting five rounds of 356 Winchester. I personally don't like shooting more than three of this at any given time. My son in law refuses to shoot it ever again after one shot.
Shooting a DP marked Enfield might be safer than a Back Friday mission to many stores though my thought would be folks shopping Cabales would tend to be more polite and far less apt to trample fellow shoppers.Quote:

Like I said earlier, I'm fairly comfortable shooting them off hand but this will remove the small element of doubt of safety. They are selling for about 55% off and it is a nice set up. I have plenty of lead in the basement. It's in round spoon sized shapes as that's what I poured it in after melting it to get the impurities out. I may melt it again into ingots I guess to make it easier to handle.
Walmart Thursday evening was pretty bad. I was there for about 10 minutes and I had enough. A few dollars in savings isn't worth the degradation of society people take themselves down during these events. The stores we stopped at during daylight Friday morning still had everything we were after anyway.
Well said. Stopped By Wally world friday nite for a bar of saop. Nope. Entire parking lot ,surrounding closed banks etc.., and side streets packed.Quote:
