Appears they are all wearing Hawley liners. Also probably Army, as Marines had 1903 Springfields on the Canal and not M1's with the exception of later Marine replacements who had M1's by that time, Ray

Sounds right Ray. I saw the other liner just now and was thinking the same...all Hawleys...

Had a neighbor growing up who was Army on The Canel. He said he used a 1903. Still had it in his shop and would show us kids. He is still alive by the way, and was awarded a silver star in the mid 90's. Used to tell us how he hated when the officers would take all the "good" food first before giving it to the enlisted men.
