If it came back from Korea then the odds are that it is a rebuild. The first indicator is the Quality Hardware stock. If it has an adjustable rear sight and a barrel band with the bayonet lug then it is a rebuild just like 99% of them are. Sounds like it's a good one to get and hold onto. Much better then any Universal.
How much do you think it's worth?
Pictures would help. It is like saying "what's a Chevy Chevelle worth?" Need serial number range (to determine what it looked like from the factory), stock markings, round or flat bolt, early or late slide, type rear sigh with markings, exterior finish, barrel markings, etc. Also if you have a muzzle erosion gauge or USGI M2 30-06 round to stick in the muzzle and measure how much of the projectile stays exposed.
Yeah, I guess I didn't think that one through. I'll see if I can come up with some pics.
Loren's point is that the only serial number should be behind the rear sight. The other parts are letter coded in different ways for different manufacturers.
If you were to list the parts and their markings we could tell you if they are original, rebuilt, or repo parts.
Ok, thanks!
