Hey BobK,
I just pulled the exact same style Buttplate as your picture off a M2 style FAT stock. It's a Euro stock, not USGI.
Felt like it had never been off.

BobK........Inland buttplates
CC newsletter 346-12...Both types reported throughout the first block. The square pattern reported more often than diamond....
I have a couple early Inland's 3xxx and 18x,xxx both have square pattern buttplates. CC newsletter has a very comprehensive break down of parts for Inlands first serial nimber block including the buttplates that was very helpful identifying whether the parts in both of these are correct. Having a complete set of CC newsletters is a tremendous resource. For me it was money well spend.
Now I'm confused...your most recent post concerning early Inland buttplates have the horizontal pattern. Mine has the diagonal pattern. Does the newsletter cover this or are we back to square one with the possibility of my buttplate being an aftermarket example?
Bob, Until I read that CC newsletter I thought the diamond pattern was early and the square/horizontal pattern was late. What I get out of that article is they used both patterns in the first serial number block.
In my opinion the buttplate you show in not Inland or USGI.
I apologize if I cause you or others any confusion.
Now it's clear. At first I thought that you meant that Inland used the known diagonal pattern as well as the one I posted. So everyone is in agreement that the pics I posted are not Inland and not USGI.
Wonder if MR. Ricca has any info on these BP's in question.
I found another (that makes 2) in my Carbine tool box today (pictured here with flash).
Exact same as the one I pulled from a FAT stock the other day. That one felt like it had been on forever.
I've never owned a Commercial carbine.
BobK,
I've run across some strange ones over the years...

Charlie, can you post a close-up of the one that looks like the one I have? To me, the pattern doesn't look the same.
Bob,
Your Right, Pattern is no match.
Your's looks more like the link in post 2 that ww321q linked to the ones being offered by 'George'.
I still wonder if these were some type of WWII/Post War replacement made in Europe (FAL ?) or Japan.
I'll have to look closer at the one I pulled from the FAT stock, (Not pictured above). That one looked close. That stock was passed to me from original owner of FAT Carbine from CMP.
