Does anyone know what type of leather was used for the cheekpiece and how it was tanned? I've secured some rivets to use in the repair. Now I just need to know what type of leather was used. A friend and I are going to try our hand at restoring the cheek piece.
I replace the leather on a repo stock. Look for a womens purse from the 1940's in a secon hand store, yeard sales were ther are senior c. apartment buildings. most had very good leather . That is were I found a nice redish brown leather purse. Sorry for the bad spelling. :madsmile:
