Reminds me of when I was researching the Sten Gun and Bren Gun book and went to Frederick Tibbenhams in Ipswich (you'll see the letters FT inside a diamond...., that's them!) who made most(?) of the wood for the Mk5 Sten and Mk2 Brens plus No1 bayonet grips. The Sten gun maple came from Canada while the black walnut came from the USA in sawn billetted blanks partially cut to size and one of the girls there found a letter inside one of the packed crates from a lady in the US asking for a pen friend in England, if her letter arrived safely. It did and the finder gave the letter to her brother who started the correspondence. When he met his new wife, the finder kept up the pen-friendship going for almost 50 years.
