I have that exact bayonet, on one of my Gew 88 "Commission" Rifle. I just tried it on one of my Gew 98's, and it has a better fit.
Look on the scabbard's reverse near the mouth, for a maker's mark: a script "F" "A" "G" inside an oval. Many of these pressed steel ersatz scabbards were made by the firm of Friedrich August Göbel, in Solingen.
My example on the scabbard has ( *** ) inside an oval in script.
