I remember as a kid bringing a Colt M1849 pocket pistol to school for "show and tell". No one batted an eye... back then guns were tools and people were either bad or good. Now all firearms related items are BAD.

SARCO, in Sterling, NJ had a selection of those training devices hanging from the celing in the retail store years ago. B.A.R., M1919, M1 Rifle, and M1 Carbine.
A local mil surp dealer has one of those hanging from the ceiling.

PS. My dad used to take his rifle to school and keep it in his locker so he could go squirrel hunting in the afternoon. No-one batted an eyelash.
