It is pretty nice, but like Mr. Moore, I prefer my Garands

I always wanted a 30-06 FN49 but never thought I'd ever stumble upon one, let alone at a price I would be willing to pay. Price is relative, though, as these have really appreciated over the years. I lucked out, found this one and was able to add it to the collection.
I'm really OCD when it comes to learning everything about a new rifle I don't have any prior experience with. It's half the fun. The FN49 didn't disappoint, learning about these rifles was a real treat. From Dieudonne Saive fleeing Belgium prior to the German invasion and bringing the plans to England, to the mechanicals of the rifle and the different contracts and calibers, it is all very interesting. They are also beautiful rifles. I'd get another one if lighting strikes twice.
Here's mine with some friends. Ran across it garage sailing a couple years, dirty, gas adjust froze, no mag. I love it. PAX

When I first started accumulating, I started with FN49s. I imported one from Canada because it was a surplus Belgian military rilfe, difficult to find in the US. I envy the guys with sniper FN49s.
