I'm sorry...I missed that part. The little scale...and as Peter says, good luck with the screw.
Scale picture attached -a later PH5A where the role of the fixed and moving scales have been reversed - and marked for Mk7 ammo - check out the odd replacement scale screw - it happens!.
To fab a scale plate for your sight: the fixed "minute" scale would have used 5/100 of an inch graduations and five x 4/100 of an inch graduations on the missing siding scale to produce "vernier" increments of 1/100 of an inch. These should be easy to mark onto a fabricated plate with the right equipment The yard range scale zero is a little higher than the minute zero, so it is not a simple as swiping one line across for both scales - but it could be to get basic function....Even "spares or repairs" PH site lots are going for decent money these days...happy hunting!

Hi Freman - indeed a nice early sight! - The PH5A design seems dated around 1925. Your's is unusual as it needs a zero and vernier scale on the missing slide plate - this feature is typical of the "Twin Zero" designs that came later. Also your elevation slide is very long (high - needs to be depressed considerably for SMLE use) but is nicely marked "Parker Hale 5A" although with the few holes / features visible in the first photo - reminds me of the PH "Plus 5" also for the SMLE / CLLE. I would think the plate you seek has the zero lines and vernier 4/100 scale as described but may be longer (and significantly depressed) and have its fastening slots captive in the middle of the plate as per the "Plus 5"- which could identify a spare or help you create one - certainly not a "regular" PH5A scale = time to fab IMHO

This should give you a good idea...the one in post 18 should be the right one though. These all have two screw holes...
