Looks about right to me...I'm pretty sure it's still in 303"...
Glad to hear :) the gun was used under the war in norway, AirDrop from the british. The former norwegian soldier hold on to the gun inntill he passed away couple of weeks ago, i bought it from a family member, also got some of hes spare ammo whit on the deal :)
Excellent story to go with it...
Yes :) how is it to get the hold of the parts i need to get it back in original condition? And what is it going to cost aproximitly? What parts do i miss to do that??
You'll need to look on Ebay and see if you can find the wood, at least three parts of it. You have the rear handguard, which to me is the hardest piece to find. You need almost all of the metal for the front end, the band, the swivels and screws, the bayonet boss and screws and spring...rear sight protector ears and screw...
Here is a link with all you need to know about the Enfield No1 Mk3*,
It shows drawings and component lists as well.
I do not know where in Norway you will be able to buy the parts - You may have to buy them from the USA.
It is a nice rifle with a history, if you can, restore it to its former glory.
The Rifle, Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield
Not the variation that I think BSA used in 1942 but in my opinion it's the earlier better type.
LEE ENFIELD SMLE NOSE | eBay
Not in the best condition but cheap, wood work would need to be fitted in accordance with Peter Ls guide if it's a shooter
Lee Enfield SMLE Woodwork set | eBay
May not be BSA but its the correct type.
Lee Enfield SMLE SIGHT PROTECTOR | eBay
Placed bids on some of the parts, the wood, looked a litle shabby, but as you said, cheap. Thank you for the help so far :) Exited to see how the actions go :)[COLOR="black"]
By the way, is the rear sight original, or modifyed??
