How do you feel about this sling? :D
No comment on the sling, but a fake Ordnance stamp on the wrong side of the stock???!!
Yeah, how about that? Someone must have been telling him how to stamp it over the phone and he got confused. Could've been a nice stock even if it has no cartouche on the other side.
I was talking to a machininst a few weeks back and he said with computer controlled equipment it's easier these days to make a quality fake part than it was for the original makers to make original parts.
What do the end clips look like?
Here are a couple extras I have that show weave and c clips.

After recently looking at Charlie's links to the Gun Broker auctions, I got interested in some of the Inland carbines I saw there. Last night I searched completed sales of "Inland M1 Carbines" and even found one that sold as "unissued" even though it was a re-park (bolt included) - price was above 4K. I've got one that's "unissued" (since it was re-parked) and paid about a tenth of that. The same seller has some current auctions, too - unbelievably long detailed decriptions of parts markings and quality pictures of nearly every small part are included. It's worth a look if you know how to search current and completed auctions on GB. The seller isn't S-T-B, but he's located in the same neck of the woods. - Bob

M1 carbine barreled reciever : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com
I am brand new to the collecting business of carbines. I guess my thought is, how do you know if someone is pulling your leg or not? He must have a huge stock pile of parts to pull something like this off.
So he buys the receiver, barrel, etc. then matches it with a stock he has, then passes them off as original. How would you be able to tell if he did it or if it was an arsenal rebuild?
I'm guessing the only way would be an arsenal stamp on the stock...
I'm wondering now if someone did that to me for the two that I bought.
Solved another puzzle, move it along, pick up a nice Rockola barrel, get rid of a bad BA barrel. It is sad really. Illusion becomes reality.
