Take a piece if brown masking tape and make a 4" long tight roll. Light this on fire, and you will have a nice black, sooty smoke. Make 20 or 30 "candles" and keep them and a Bic in your shooting bag. Probably second to the Supersmoker carbide lamp. The Birchwood Casey spray is not bad but messy.

My dad once told me when I was young that the carbine was sighted so that if you put the "bad guy's"* chin on the front sight (at 100 yards) it hits between the eyes. Maybe not politically correct now days, but a picture of the mind-set of the greatest generation dealing with the threat to free civilization 1939 to 1945.
*he actually used a very politically incorrect term for the Emperor's soldiers of the rising sun. Considering what he endured on Iwo Jima in 1945, I can understand...

Thanks for the knowledge. So someone installed a new front sight. That explains why the Underwood hits target zero set on "2" at 100 yards.
