I'm going to keep my eyes open for a real mk1 scope but it seems the mk1s are near impossible to find.
First question is where is the best company to buy a repro mk1 scope?
Secondly what us the differences between a mk1 and mk2 scope? Both physical and Internal differences so I can recognize an mk1 scope thx.
Secondly if I find an mk2 scope would it still be correct to put one on my rifle if its stamped 1943?
1st Q answer. Don't bother even looking for a repop scope is my opinion. Just save twice and buy once.
2nd Q answer. In short, boith a Mk1 and Mk2 telescope are clearly identified as such on the main tube.
3rd Q answer. Yes. As your rifle isn't original, what does it matter. As I have said a zillion times here. When real Armourers rebuilt rifles we did what was NEEDED and our BEST for whoever needed it. Any rifle that went into an Armourers shop was repaired using what was available. So far as I can recall, I can safely say that I never once saw an Armourer ( I mean REAL Armourers) look through a tray of parts looking for specific parts.
Just my realistic look at life............
Ok... If I was to buy a mk 2 scope what price range should I pay scope only no mount thx.
A 1943 dated MkII just sold for $1575 on eBay, from central Canada.

That's just one of course, you can probably find one cheaper if you look hard.

I'm all for looking hard believe me my trouble is if I'm looking so hard so is another guy lol I don't really have many contacts or hook ups like many do.
Take photos of a No32 scope and show them to everyone you can at gun shows asking if the know where you could find one. Use a photo with the bracket fitted and one without, on the same page. You'll turn something up if you keep asking around and use the images to jog people's memories. Many times people have or have seen some item, but do not know its correct name etc. The image gets past this. We are visual creatures.
Patience is a virtue my Dad used to say, I would think very carefully before you buy into a repro, at the end of the day its a repro and thats it, where as binding your time you will pick up a reasonable Mk1 or Mk11 in the future, I would guess anything between £500 - £800 don't just think its a scope, its also an investment.......Quote:

I found reproduction scopes for 400 bucks. Spring is coming and I'm going to want to shoot this with a scope. As far as an investment goes it would be nice to have an original but I will never sell any of my guns lol. Ill just buy a repro for now so I can enjoy it. Personally I will never have anywhere 2k to spend on scope only so it may be years before I luck
Out and get a cheaper one.
Then I advise you to not waste your money on the POS repro scope. You can get a Weaver K2.5 or K3 for $100 or less off ebay. They pretty much look the part and are much better mechanically than any repro No.32.Quote:

Z28, for heavens sake listen. You WILL get the real McCoy, even if it looks like a beat-up heap of tat. But they are all repairable to as-new condition
