Sold the sister of that cutaway Bren recently only two in existence like that, and the other ones there:)
That cutaway Mk3 Bren was done by the Apprentices school at Enfield for show at the Empire Exhibition in 1948. It is not chromed as some might suspect but just polished white metal and a light smear of vaseline over it.
Interesting photos of the odd lone Bren butt. It is a Mk2 butt lightened for the 1944 lightweight Mk2 gun project (the proposed Mk4 gun…..) from the 'T' and 'U' number range. But the effort to patch the Mk2 fittings out to accept the lightweight Mk3 gun stuff made it simpler to just make new butts afresh. But the only example we know of
