Okay fellas, it's all good. I sure didn't take it as anything but a comment made in jest.
Grumpy, that is not original, test, experiment, prototype or anything else other than altered by a previous owner. Steer clear ;)

This is the 'sight' that the "joke" was about.
Customize rear sight
Thanks for all your help guys! I'm going to steer clear of this one.
Edit - after seeing the thread about the rear sight with the screw on the bottom, I have to admit the "threaded hole" comment was rather amusing
That is a strange one - I see no trace of the sight bridge having been removed - its like it was never there.
If you look real close at it you can see where the dovetail was milled off the receiver. It is a real nice job as far as how it was done but the carbine only has value as the parts that are on it.
I see grinder marks on the barrel in front of the receiver, but don't see the milling marks where the dovetail was. - Bob
No value there, just a conversation piece. Thanks for the pictures
I never saw a carbine without a dovetail.
Like everyone has said, it was either ground or milled off. Good job though but I'd stay away from it.
Here is another one that is well done you would think there was never a dovetail there................nicely done but be prepared to shed a tear.....
