Does appear to be more finish on the one I got. Hard to tell with differences in lighting and flash.
Like I said, I'm happy with it, except the missing cleaning rod.

Definitely more finish on your rifle, though I for some reason really like the 'in the white' look that the first rifle has.
I caught the guy in another lie. This is aggravating. He told me he lost the barrel bands when he took the stock apart to get the oil out. I admit to not thinking about it at the time but M44/Type 53 barrel bands do not easily go on and off of these rifles. I realized that yesterday when they arrived and I attempted to put them on. He probably destroyed them or cut them to get them off.
Anyway did some looking around for options and found nothing extremely helpful until I found this video:
How to Remove M44 or T53 Mosin Barrel Bands - YouTube
Worked beautifully and the rifle is now all back together. It did not have a cleaning rod, he wasn't lying about that even though his photo showed one. there was about half an inch of impacted grease and dirt in there that had to come out first.
Good idea! The bands don't have to be springy so annealing them is no big deal. Using the vise as a spreader is just genius.
