There is another poking out just behind the Sergeants left arm band the front lip of the soldiers helmet is level with the Sergeants chin..
That's the carbine Mark was speaking of.
Fair call Jim but if I was giving a reference to some one like; take your crane over there somewhere and lift up something onto that I would get a deer in the headlight look, probably like some person saying to you just pop down to the armoury and get the rifle there that has a wonky front sight it is in one of the racks. Nice to have points of reference as I took it from Franks perspective, we had a cartoonist here that for the Daily News and evening paper used to place a small dog and lad in his cartoons as a sorta find me's and at times you for the life of ya you could not find those little beggars maybe he left them out on purpose!! :bitch:
You Ozzies have elevated pilferage to a fine art... of course, you come by it naturally as all your ancestors were convicts LOL. Kidding, kidding! Yanks love Aussies, and one of my favorite wines is Molly Dooker :)
We proudly claim the title 'Australian royalty' if we have transported convicts in the family tree.
Having said that, if you check your history you will find the American colonies were the Poms first dumping ground so some Americans could claim a similar title. Ben Franklin was so inflamed by convict transportation to the Americas that he once wrote that the American colonists should return the favour by send rattlesnakes to England.
But Paul we perfected that art into an actual science why? while even getting caught we could near on explain it away from them why it would better use to us and they could just go of and get one from their quartermaster we couldnt because he was on another raid oh boy what fun. tent stealing, full vegimite tins in fires, hoochies suddenly falling down at night, ah yes the lantern stalks at Northam good getcha backs on those swarays nicely ground into the dirt all in fun like......Not that we used gravel dust shot out 303's with blanks mindya got pasted both was 1 by the RSM and a mate who got to close red arse me for a while after the hostilities had ceased and I got my hearing back from the RSM lecture
I'll never admit that visits to neighbouring US bases in Vietnam were 'requisitioning excursions' or that anything not physically locked up or guarded was regarded a 'surplus to need' and therefore ours for the taking.
