So, you have two rifles with the same serial number and both from the New Zealand order marked with the DA, very unusual.

Did any No8 parts sell. I need a very good butt pad and a barrel. Anybody got these? pls email me rgg_7@hotmail.com
Yep :D
Both the forends have DA156 stamped into them, both bolts also stamped but one is renumbered.
The lighter one is dated 1951, the other 1952.
Maybe they finished on DA156 for the Christmas/New Year break and restarted with DA156 ????
A lot of members of the Wellington Branch of Antique Arms saw or knew about these rifles before the end of the day, plus i showed them both to the Armorer who inspected all the rifles, so my a$$ is covered if anyone accuses me of 'Humping my Enfields'
Sorry RGG7, no parts like that, we got the wood, front band, king screw bushing, front swivel, mostly the butt plates on the wood sets were broken into pieces.
I wonder if sequentialed rifles have extra $ kudos, then what price are clones??!! Awesome.
Got a No8 & No9 at the auction as well didn`t see you Wazza.
Stu.
There was a posting on Jouster several months ago that NZ had actually signed the UN treaty on "non-proliferation of arms". Any information to the contrary would be welcome news. The more nations that stand up to the gun-haters at the UN, the better. Prior to our last national election here in the USA, such a treaty would have had a snowball's chance in hell. With the current administration, I think it could very well be signed into law.
Hey Wazza, had it to the range yet?? Bet the little bugger will go really well. The No9 turned out OK as well, the loose wood was simply the king screw being loose. The recoil lugs are a little set-back, but it shouldn't make any difference to the .22...
Someone wanted No8 butt plates. I believe BDL had some reproduced. As a matter of interest, has anyone got a No9 fitted up to 'T' spec? If anyones considering it, the old Instrument and Searchlight EMER has the spec for bringing the focal range of the No32 down to 25 metres for use on the indoor ranges, against the old landscape targets if anyone needs it. Good for fire orders and wet weather training. Does anyone still have an old landscape target? They must be rare now
During the 60's there were 8 or so such beasts for the sniper div at Warminster
