Yes Australia had to pack up and send what ever 303's we could spare to them as we had our own problems to look after.....

Pikes made from gas pipes to mount an old bayonet were indeed issued to the Home Guard and I've got some monthly returns here from the Public Records Office showing numbers.

After today, you better get it working and buy some fresh ammo.

From some pictures, a lot of the "pikes" look like quarterstaffs with an obsolete bayonet "attached". A true weapon of desperation, probably only useful in the hands of a trained and fit, "stick fighter". Of limited value against German paratroops armed with "long-range bayonets", i.e. MP38s.
