Wow Butlersrangers, excellent write up and load of information! My serial number is for sure 30341 viewed under better lighting conditions. Does that mean my exact rifle is the one that Franklin Mallory had in his table? My stock is definitely as you described with being a little longer like the 99 carbine but it has the cut for the bolt handle just like the 96 and it does not have any sling mounts. Thanks so much for the info, really does sound like I got something unique! I might have to invest in some Krag books it sounds like.
I recently loaded up my first ten shells and took her out, shoots like a dream, can't believe the gun is almost 120 years old! Can't wait to get the proper barrel band and handguard to bring this beauty back to her former glory.

'mxracer 84' - It certainly appears your 1895 dated Krag carbine is the one Franklin Mallory found documented in his research of official records. (Of course, your carbine was officially updated, after being 'turned in' on 09/22/1900).
I would suggest you obtain "The Krag Rifle Story", 2nd edition, for your library. It will increase your enjoyment of your Krag!
