Just looking at it and a few minutes spent working out the mechanics of it, that sight should be simplicity itself to make given a few simple dimensions
Agreed, just nice to have a selection of interchangeable eye pieces to hand, and Bobs your uncle.
I recall seeing the No4 backsight calibrated for 7.62mm for the L8 series. Both a YARDS and METRES variant was going to be available. That was before some clown who hadn't quite grasped the mechanics and mathematics of range and trajectory suggested that the .303" YARDS scale was the same as 7.62mm in METRES (it's not!). The number spacing on the L8 sight scale was very similar to the scale on the sight shown.
I'd have thought that coming from the P-H stable, the eye piece on the sight shown will be the same thread as the other eye piece threads. Mind you, from my experience of P-H sights, their thread system didn't equate to anything I learned as an apprentice or at Uni - or even the rest of the known world!
Does that P-H sight rotate up/down about that axis pin? Windage/zeroing - on L7 foresight? Yep, that'd be a doddle to make
As a matter of interest.......... Now you know that I'm going to wander off at a bit of a tangent........, Enfield were in joint talks with Sterling to convert No4 Mk1 backsights to 7.62mm by skimming down the existing leaf and re-marking with the relevant data. Enfield used the same ploy with the 'new' L4A2 Bren 7.62mm backsight. Skim clean and sent out to sub contract for re-engraving to suit 7.62mm METRES. That's why you'll occasionally see an JI marked 7.62mm METRES backsight on your L4 Bren. Waste not, want not
Apologies,
just seen this thread. hope this answers it.
The threads on the PH sights were always a bit of a headache, some produced in BA, American and a lot ot it was Enfield form. The sight does in fact rotate up and down the threaded axis pin, and the windage is by way of foresight movement.
I hope that answers the query.
I have a spare rear sight, do you want CAD files for it? Would be easy for me to draw it up in solidworks.
There's not that many parts in it, rather basic design.
I'd already started doing the front sight a while ago, but never got around to finishing it.

Here are some close ups of the L96 Iron Sights by way of a comparison. The top half of the foresight is a GPMG sight, the bottom part is L96 specific.Attachment 72590Attachment 72591Attachment 72592Attachment 72593Attachment 72594Attachment 72595
There doesn't seem to be any point making those parts SDF 4 because they are generic, simple to get, available on ebay GPMG/L7/FN MAG 58 parts. That's why AI chose them to use on their rifles
Try John at DS Solutions, I'm sure he could find you a GPMG foresight.
Or try Norman Clark, that's where I got my M85 foresight assembly from.
