Flea Market Finds

That's better than any of my local flea markets. Our best one that isn't a complete junk sale is almost stripped of any militaria. From what I heard going to that market there's a buyer who shows up almost before the whole thing opens up on Saturday and buys up every piece of militaria available before anyone even gets a chance to buy it. I've been very lucky to find the very few things I do have just because at least there are sellers who follow the rules of the market and don't sell until people start coming in on Saturday morning.

I found a big can of rifle grease at the swap meet for a dollar, it's from the early 1960's, I use it on my surplus rifles

that coin dated 1912 looks interesting , looks like a half dollar piece?

Went to a smaller flea market and picked up some nice items. For $100 dollars: four WWII naval uniforms, WWI era poster, 60s helmet liner, some ribbon bars and more coins.

If by 50 cents you mean about 15 cents, you are correct :D

The guy I buy most of my coins from has 6 for a dollar and since it was an older date, in unc. condition and I did not already have one, I bought it.

Price on the coin is .50...a 1949 nickle isn't too hard to find. But still, if you're paying .15 for a nickle...

I picked up an M29 Anti-Tank dummy grenade today for $10. It is missing two of the fins which seems to be a common issue with these. They are aluminum. Any way to repair them? I see those "welding" kits for aluminum, curious if they actually work.

Do you mean the "welding kits" that you are supposed to be able to heat the job up with a brazing blow torch? They do sort of work after a fashion but it is very easy to heat the job up too much and end up with a molten globule of aluminium that was once the thing that you were trying to repair. Be very careful if it's made from Mazac or pot metal as some call it which is a zinc alloy and is notoriously difficult to weld. I have successfully used these kits on aluminium but I have also destroyed the thing which I have been try to repair with them as well.

I've seen some that they make things out of aluminum cans which are very thin. It's been a long time, maybe I'm misremembering.

RE the live ammo and being cked by the security forces- Midwest, as in Chicago?
And a rent a cop checks your stuff prior to leaving the flea market?
