I've been through about 25 myself...
I've only got two at the moment. I don't know how many I've actually owned though. Had all 10 makers, 10 different lineouts, an M2 and an M4. Plus I've had multiples of some of the more common makers. Oh! Yeah, I've had 3 original M1A1s too. Probably total somewhere around 40-45 of them.
I never had an IP or a real M1A1. Mine was a repro stock. Everything else I had through time.
Never had one like that nor seen one do that, but as many of them as there are I'm sure there are others.
I shoot some, but just those I'm going to sell off. I'm a carbine collector, not a shooter.
re. "I've had 3 original M1A1's".
I would like more but nowadays it may be very hard to find another one unmolested and original. Frustrating for a new collector like me.
btw when I hold mine it brings me back in time to when youngsters parachuted into war with one of these, a good chance they wouldn't come back home. Many were terrified but they fought and many died for our liberty. Today some teenagers (and adults) sit in "safe spaces" sucking on pacifiers and using coloring books and crayons, crying because someone said something that hurt their feelings or because they are distraught over the election. ****es me off.
Thanks for all y'all's service and Merry Christmas!!!
True that I guess, but many had an excitement burning inside that couldn't be quenched. As my dad said to me, "Sure there were some hard time but there were some great times too. I wouldn't have missed it for the world!" He landed at Sicily, Italy and Normandy...started at 17 yrs old.
When there was lots of carbines and ammo around, you shot them until the wood burned. Took my m2s down
that trail. If the carry permits weren't canceled on them, who knows. But looking at my inland m2, it's all factory original,
it looks good leaning against the wall. Could never find a replacement. Going on 40 years . You have to take care of the
nice ones
