Guys in the rear of the tank may be hearing nothing but the engine?
A lot of speculation here
The running soldier may be breaking cover as shown belowhttps://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...cherbour-1.jpg
The general demeanor of the soldier behind the tankdestroyer are showing little concern especially if the tank is about to engage a target which seems unlikely as it appears to be unmanned https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...8492C568-1.jpg
The photographer is behind cover or is not in the line of fire but in poor position if the tank were preparing to engage with its main gun - "76 mm gun on the M4 Sherman was found to have an undesirably large muzzle blast that kicked up dust from the ground and obscured vision for further firing." The m36 Jackson was equipped with a 90 mm main gun making the a potential muzzle blast greater. Again unlikely that the Jackson is about to engage.
The medic appears to be responding to a threat - but a random shot could provoke this responce
The tank appears to be above ground high up on a roof over looking the scene below unless I'm seeing wrong. If so, wonder how that happened? Ray
Here is more speculation.
The "running soldier" is not wearing any combat gear, not even a pistol belt. The item he carries in his left hand is not recognizable as any known weapon.
My speculated SWAG is that he is a combat photographer sprinting to get a good picture of these real combat soldiers.
Oh yeah, more speculation, the guys up front appear to be taking a stroll in the park...no sense of urgency.
BEAR the speculator:madsmile:
It is obvious - He is a medic assessing hearing loss of front line troops:bash:
