My bet 43 maybe 44. The real late war guns were very rough and also believed to be somewhat un-safe with hi-power ammo due to bad heat treat. I can't verify that, but, thats been the roomer for the last 30 years. Yours does not appear to be quite that late.SDH
is the FULL serial number on the slide, barrel and frame, or is the complete serial number on the slide and a partial number on the barrel and frame ?? I've seen them both ways....
The frame displays the full serial number but the slide and barrel only show the last three digits of the serial number. Why does this mean anything specific to you?

I have one, all original. There are no markings whatsoever on the (wood) grips, can't tell you much on the black plastic grips. There were black grips made for them, I'll provide you w/ contacts for more info on them. As I understand, the serial numbers started out strictly numerical, later they added letter blocks on them. Mine for example is serial number 48359a, which makes it a late 43, early 44 model. You'll have to look very closely, the stamps they used for the letters were very poor and usually people miss them entirely if they don't know what to look for. I looked around and found a forum specifically for the Hi Power and was referred to the email below for definitive information. Gentlemans name is Aaron and he's very helpful on these.
