The photo in post #4 is from the first world war. There is a copy of that in "le Mirroir", (with french wording) a French newspaper from that period that I have in my bookshelf.
I have an Edwardian penny [coin] transfixed with an 8mm Mauser bullet which I am sure has been made up as a souvenir. Call me a cynic, but I am just the tiniest bit suspicious about the two bullets shown, which have a similar "look" to mine.

It wasn't a close call if the bullet passed through the poor sod from the back before lodging in the charger carried in the pouch on his front!
A fellow I bought a Carcano carbine from tried and tried to sell me a Walther PP that had been shot in the slide with something powerful....interesting piece but it wasn't any good to me.
And so ad infinitum...
